Restaurants in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, the capital city of our own country is still one of our favourites. We love going out for breakfast, lunch or dinner! There are so much restaurants in Amsterdam, but we prefer to eat at sustainable places. Preferably at local entrepreneurs, definitely not buffet style (no waste please!) and focused on the community/world around us.

Beter & Leuk

This cosy lunchroom/café and shop uses bio-, seasonal- and local products. They work together with food, art, lifestyle and fashion partners to serve the community and inspire people to live healthy and sustainable. At Beter & Leuk you can enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch or even buy clothes, jewels, healthfood, art and books. Awesome!

Hartje Oost

Looking for a nice coffee boutique to enjoy breakfast, lunch or just a drink? Hartje Oost is great! In the morning it’s quite enough to work, while enjoying one of the amazing smoothie bowls. And still looking for a party outfit for the weekend? We are sure you will find the best party outfit ever! We love this place.

One third of our food production is wasted. Instock wants to change this by turning food surplus into delicious meals. They pick up unsold products like blemished fruits, vegetable, one-day-old bread, meat and fish at supermarkets and other producers and create wonderful dishes. And yes, the menu is a surprise every day! If you do want to rescue food, you certainly need to go to Instock!

Café de Ceuvel

Café de Ceuvel is a café with a sustainable mission, situated in Amsterdam Noord. The owners would like to make a difference in the world and cooperate with a large amount of initiatives that make sure every plate, beer or other drink makes a positive impact somewhere else. The famous Dutch bitterballen are made from oyster mushrooms that grow on coffee grinds, they have a greenhouse on the roof, a floating garden in the water to grow herbs and the building is constructed from upcycled materials. Go to Café de Ceuvel for a festival, de Buurderij or dinner.

At Bijvangst you can enjoy everything the North Sea has to offer, including unknown fishes. A large part of fish does not end up on our plate. Too big, too small, too gray, too strange? The so-called by-catch is at least as good as our well-known classics. The restaurant’s mission is to counter waste by putting these fishes on the menu. All dishes are 100% North Sea and wild caught; pure nature, healthy, and very tasty. Our food print is kept as low as possible.
